Paint needs memory

I tried to use paint, comes with Windows 2000, to load
some images and I got a window poped up with the following
message.

Paint needs more memory. The computer has 256MG physical
RAM.How can I increase more memory without adding physical
memory?

You can increase virtual memory at Control Panel / System / Advanced /
Performance / Change.
