My computer is extremely slow during initial boot and when selecting personal
desktop. During the process I get a window indicating that the Paging File
is to small. I have tried to increase the PF size in the Control Panel, but
it will not complete the the change. When I restart the computer I get a
request to allow C:\windows\system32\vkucbdgm.exe to load, I denied its
install. Any suggestions??
Please!!!!
Your virtual memory settings problems may be related to your
vkucbdgm.exe issue so let's address that one first.
A Google web search fails to turn up a single reference to any file
named vkucbdgm.exe. While not 100% conclusive, this result generally
means that the name is a generated one created by some
virus/trojan/spyware that has somehow gotten onto your computer.
1. Make certain your antivirus software is completely up to date with
the virus definitions not more than a week old and do a complete virus
scan of your hard drive. Then get a second opinion by doing an online
virus scan at one of the free web sites such as
http://housecall.trendmicro.com
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
2. Go to MVP Jim Eshelman's Spyware Quick Fix page at
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm and follow the procedures there to
check for and clean up any spyware from your computer.
3. You might want to consider downloading and installing the free
Beta version of Microsoft Antispyware from
http://download.microsoft.com
While this is a Beta product, with all of the attendant uncertainties
and "too full of bugs to be released" type concerns that are normally
associated with Beta software this product has proven to be both well
behaved and effective. It not only cleans up spyware very well it
also prevents most of it from getting installed in the first place.
Some people do have concerns that Microsoft, along with some other
antispyware companies, are giving a recommendation to ignore rather
than to quarantine or remove certain items. It still detects these ut
if you want them off your computer you will have to change the action
setting for that item. Not difficult to do.
Good luck
