How do I get my computer to remember the paging file
allotment I set? It does not retain my settings? Anyone
else have this problem? Any fixes?
Thanks

If you enter settings that are ludicrously low in comparison to the
actual basic needs of XP then it will simply ignore the settings and
use what is appropriate.

If that does not apply to your situation then open Control Panel -
Add/Remove Programs and look for an entry for the Intel Application
Accelerator. If it is listed then select it and click on Add/Remove
to uninstall it. Reboot the computer and your problem should be
resolved.

And if the Intel Application Accelerator was installed then you should
go to www.intel.com and download the latest version of the Intel
Application Accelerator and install it.

See MVP Alex Nichol's article on virtual memory in Windows XP at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm for additional information if the
problem persists.

Good luck

Hi Ross

Yes I too have this problem. even if I ask XP to manage
the page file is unable to set an adequately sized file.
it recommend 766MB byt sets to 256MB. I have tried
setting this to 800-1000MB manually but on restarting it
is unable to do this and again sets it to 256MB?

I had read somewhere about hving to be n administrator to
alter these settings and have checked that my login does
provide this. I am now at a loss and am running out of
places to look!
