Pages will load through networked connection but not by modem

Hi. I have this computer where when I connect directly to the net with a modem (and I have tried several, internal and external) no pages will display. When I plug the computer into my network, no problem. Running winxp, ie6. All critical patching is up to date, as is antivirus. Full system antivirus scan has been performed. Have flushed the dns, tried setting primary and secondary dns in the modem connection, tried it with obtain settings automatically. Have tried dialling in to a different ISP. Still the same
The network connection to the internet works fine with obtain settings automatically. I am stuck and really need some help with this one. Thank

Thanks anyway, I fixed it. One tick box unticked. Use default gateway on the remote network got unticked somehow
