When i load some web sites i get the page beginning to load but shortly
afterwards it goes blank while saying 'done' in the bottom corner. An example
of a problem site is www.runescape.com. Any help that can be offered would be
great.....please :)

Hi help me :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Blank Pages:

Go to "Start" -> "Run" -> and register the following dll's by using
regsvr32 command. Try the first 2, then see if it resolves the problem. If
not then register the rest of the .dll's:

regsvr32 urlmon.dll?
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll?
regsvr32 msxml.dll?
regsvr32 mshtml.dll?
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll?
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll?

If that doesn't work, then check out the following article and do the
additional steps outlined
there:

If you are using WinXP try this:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IE_Default_Browser.reg

You can also try this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC (msconfig for WinXP).
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk' ("Expand File" for WinXP).
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file's location, which is
probably in the Win98 (i386 for WinXP) folder of your installation CD-ROM
(typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs (Windows\i386 for
WinXP) folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System (C:\Windows\System32
for WinXP), and click OK. System File Checker (or msconfig) looks for the
file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been
successfully extracted'.

You may need to reboot.

or............................

Reset security level to default "medium"

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Hi again, thanx for your help...it was extensive :) however, sadly, none of
it worked... the page mentioned initially still won't load. It used to then
all of a sudden it stopped...i'm confused and lost. Thanks anyway :)

Hi help me :-)

Would you please provide the version of Windows and IE that you are using.
With so many versions, it is hard to try to pinpoint a resolution without
knowing which versions you have. I took a guess as to a usual course of
action, but, as it did not help, the additional information may help
determine the cause.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Hey, I'm using version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 (hope that
means something to you cause i'm clueless...guessing its version 6 lol)
Just noticed as well that i have been getting error messages in the bottom
corner but they flash by to 'done' so quick that i can't read them. On this
message centre site it is possible to make out javascript error but i can't
be more specific i'm afraid. These messages don't actually appear at all with
the original www.runescape.com type pages i've been having the real problems
with however...i'm just confused now!

Hi help me :-)

'k....here are a few things to try to let us know where we are here. There
are several things that can cause this type of error with XP and SP2.

To download Java VM for XP:

Still nothing... no error messages, no change, no nothing...i think i've
reached rock bottom on my optimism. I appreciate all your help but i'm on the
verge of giving up here lol.
Thanks again :)

Hi,
Long shots, but...
Internet Options> Advanced> Java (Sun)> check "Use Java" and under Microsoft
VM, uncheck all boxes.
Or, uncheck "Use Java" and under Microsoft VM, check "JIT compiler for
Virtual Machine enabled and uncheck the other 2 options.

Or, Internet Options> Security> Internet> Custom Level> verify that Allow
META REFRESH is enabled.

Also, clear the cache from Internet Options> General> Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi :-)

I can surely feel your pain here.... :-). I can only suggest at this point,
that you the information Don has posted here and see if it helps. I'm out
of any other ideas, other than to repair your IE, as there may be a file
that is corrupt or damaged. If you need help with the repair or reinstall,
post back here and we'll be happy to provide the instructions for you.

Hi,
Another long shot... try disabling any other program that might be
interfering with IE. Look at ad-blockers, privacy/security, toolbars or
other add-ons to IE, etc.

Thanks to everyone who helped me, the problem seems to have been sorted out
now although i couldn't say for sure which approach was the winner cause i
tried so many lol. I think it may have been the use of BHODemon and the
Spybot search and destroy programs that did it. Thanks once more and hope you
never hear from me again!

Jan,

I just found your 'fix' after doing a search on this newsgroup. I was having
the same issue as this user with certain sites (not secure) returning blank
pages with 'Done' in the lower-left corner. Registering those DLL's resolved
my issue.

Thanks for your post!

I meant to add that I am using IE7.
