In another group, somebody posted this link and other similar ones:

http://www.big-boys.com/movie0.html

Using IE 6, the pages each produce an error and crashes IE entirely.
The error report includes:

AppName: iexplore.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106
ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1485

Is it just my system? Or is just these pages?

The error report suggests that I install XP SP2, but I'm using
Windows 2000 complete with all critical updates.

Other information, maybe relevant: Three days ago I spent several
hours trying to revive the wireless network adaptor in my desktop
computer. I never did get it to work, and what's worse, during the
process something "broke" the wired connection. Fortunately, a tech
at my ISP walked me through the repairs using the Windows Device
Manager, Regedit, and finally a repair of IE using the Add/Remove
programs feature in the Control Panel. That worked and I hadn't
encountered any problems since then.

However, I haven't watched any online movies this week, until last
night. Could there be something else "broken" on my system this
week but that I didn't notice until now? Can somebody point me to
some other pages with movies, to see what happens?

Thanks
Steven

Errors with IE and wininet.dll are most commonly caused by History or
Temporary Internet Files (TIF) folder size issues or corruption. See this
site for how to totally delete them:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm - rebooting will have Windows
recreate them.

If no joy, see this site for more troubleshooting:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_5.htm#wininet

If still no joy, the site you mentioned uses Windows Media Player embedded
in the web pages. Update or reinstall WMP:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/download/download.aspx
or
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/default.asp?displang=en

Hi,
You may have a damaged History folder or Temporary Internet Files folder.
Delete both of those folders using the appropriate (for your OS)
instructions at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Afterwards, from IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Settings, set the
size of the TIF folder to 50-60 MB.

Don,

It took me some time and a couple of reboots to figure out how to do
this, but it finally worked. The web page works. Not only that,
but the Yahoo LaunchCast music service had not been working either.
All better now.

Thanks
Steven
