Hi,

I have changed my pagefile as follows : Virtual memory - 2096 (initial) -
4096 (max), however when i exit I find the total paging file size is shown
as 1151 meg. Is this right ( i have 3* 256 meg ram chips). I think i need
the bigger pagefile to avoid errors in video work i am doing.

Thanks

That is correct. The limits simply set the maximum size for the page file
but do not guarantee that much usage. Your system has not required the full
amount you allocated. Your program will use what it needs and no more.

A maximun is a good idea, bigger than whet you ever expect to use. But not too big else you'll run out of space for temp files and may not be able to save any open files.

1151 is (almost!) the default that XP will allocate, given the amount of
memory in the system.
1.5 times memory

Have you selected Custom Size, entered you minimum and maximum and then
double clicked Set, exited and restarted your computer?

The recommended size for your machine based on the system default id
1,152 mb so it would appear that it is not allowing your customs
setting. Does the system show a maximum permitted size-in the same
windows you enter your custom settings? I would try again.

Hope this helps.
