pagefile.sys

The technical bit re the above problem: I recently created
a 2nd partition
on the main disk (therefore D:), and some time later I
needed to run W2K
repair utility due to the slowness of the PC (2 years of
abuse). Unbeknown
to me, the W2K Setup went and put the virual memory
file "pagefile.sys" onto
the new partition - a good decision, but it didn't tell
me! Sometime after
that I inadvertently deleted this partition ( I deleted
the wrong one
because someone was bending my ear while I was trying to
work! I don't
normally make mistakes like that!) As a result W2K would
not start due to
the absent pagefile. And that's it. The microsoft site
gives some advice
based on "permissions to pagefile.sys", but it assumes
Windows actually
starts. I saw a messageboard entry which said a new
install was required.

So, just in case my description above is unclear, the
question is:

How does one recreat or copy-in a new pagefile.sys?

I was going to try to copy one in from CD via the recovery
console, but I
couldn't copy pagefile.sys from a different PC (The file
is not shareable,
and is open for exclusive use by the system).

The easiest way is to install some old formatted hard disk
as a slave disk to give you a chance to resolve the problem.
