Hi,

I have a Domain Controller running Windows 2000 Advanced
server with two partitions. One has the OS directories,
and a few applications; the second one has exchange 2000
server installed on it.
The pagefile.sys is growing out of proportions on the
first partition. Can I move that file to the second
partition without compromising the server? Can that file
be compressed? It is over 4GB right now...

Suggestions?

You can split the pagefile to both the C and other
partition. The main thing is you generally must have at
least 125MB of swap on C or the event viewer will not be
able to log events. It will give you a warning if you go
lower than the "Recommended" for keeping all normal
services running. As far as compressing the swap I do not
think you can do that but you can set the max swap file
size. What you may want to do is see what the recommended
swap file size is and then set it to a minimum and maximum
allowing for some growth but that is hard wired. Anyway,
yes you can split the swap file to different drives but do
not think you can compress the swap file only.

Thank you!
