Pagefile size increase

I have 2 identical Dell Dimension 2350 PCs. They came with
128 MB of RAM, to which I added 256 MB (making 384 MB
each).

When I try to increase the pagefile size to 150% of the
physical RAM (i.e. 576 MB), I get a BSoD as soon as I
click 'OK' to apply the changes. This happens on both
computers.

Any ideas or workarounds?

What are the contents of the BSOD screen? There are tens of thousands
of different BSOD messages, the vast majority of which have different
causes and therefore different cures.

As for setting the page file size you should read MVP Alex Nichol's
article on virtual memory management in Windows XP at
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm before setting any values. Basically
rules such as "xx times RAM" are pure hokum insofar as XP is
concerned.

Good luck

Thanks everyone.

I've just finished kicking myself for not trying it in
safe mode before. Windows has decided to set the system-
managed size to 573 MB (not far off the 150% theory)
