After upgrading to XP Pro from Win2K, I continue to get an
error that the pagefile is set to too low a setting or
does not exist. The message says to go to the virtual
memory settings and reset the value manually which I have
done several times to no avail. It will not take any of
the setting options other than "no pagefile". Which is not
acceptable due to the snail like effect it has on the
speed. I am logged in as administrator and there is no
mention of the error in the event viewer. Any suggestions?

I upped from 98 to XP, happen to hate XP but compatibility
finally forced me to. It's so much like fisher-price...
anyway I have recently tried to increase the size of the
pagefile on my system and have come to understand I can do
three things: 1) decrease the size of the PF on any of my
4 partitions 2) I can remove the PF's 3) I can try to
increase hte size and reset my computer to produce no
results. It's so fun, now that my PF has reduced from its
original 1024 MB size to about 300MB, I decided I had
better get help because this problem is beyond my
knowledge. I am using SP1, and I have been able to set the
PFs before, I set them about 6 months ago, and tinkered
with them once since, about 3 months ago, but now I cannot
increase any of hte PF's. Any help is appreciated. I did
by the way defrag all of my partitions so I have enough
contiguous space, and 5GB of free space on each drive.
