I do not know what happened! I read an article and (foolishly) changed a
couple of items in my msconfig file. When i rebooted the computer went into
the safe mode. I reset the config file to the original setting. It then
asked me to try the reset to a previous date, which I did, to no avail.

Now when I boot up the computer, I get the "Page_fault_in_nonpaged_area"
message. MS says that it is a memory error, so I switched the memory out and
attempted to restart the computer with the XP pro software (as per MS
instructions). But upon accepting the licence terms and hitting the enter
key, the same situation appears. I have switched out both memory modules,
but the situation remains the same. I'm stumped and am open to suggestions..

Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced.
Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible
software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop
message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a
flawed PCI card).

A complete Stop Error report would help!

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing the F8
key during Start-Up and select option - Disable automatic restart on
system failure.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have
resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.
