this is my first time working with front page to make webpages, and ikeep
uploading the homepage, but it wont show. Instead i get a 403 error. Also i
read that the first page should be uploaded as "index.htm" or "default.htm",
so i tried that too. The folder was created and everything, but when i open
the page, nothing shows. what am i doing wrong? is there a step by step
turorial i can get to do this right?

help ;_;

The default or home page should not be in a "folder." It needs to be in the "root" of the
web, which is the folder with the blue globe, The root folder itself does not get
"published," but everything it contains does get published.

ok, i uploaded onto the root. but i still get a plaing blank page. do i have
to upload the images manually? (as in drop them into the ftp folder)

also, one thing i forgot to mention. i originally create the site using
Adobe Imageready. I can transfer the files to FP from there. But can that be
the cause to the problems? or am i just too new at this

thankyou ^_^

i was able to get the home page up without a problem. i dont know how i did
it, or why it even workd but im not arguing. fine by me. so, the links are
all dead for now untill i find some miraculous way of uploading the rest of
the pages. For now, can any one give me some feedback on the overall design?
I worked from scratch so it was kinda hard and its my first website so go
easy on me ^_^

That's a really nice start to your web site. You do have a typo, though and
will have to edit index_07.gif. It says "we will be glad to give a quote for
all *you* insurance needs" instead of "all your insurance needs".

As far as the broken links go, if your host offers cPanel, you can use its
file manager to bring all of your other pages into the root folder. If not,
use FrontPage to publish your site to the host. HTH

ty! i have to get to that then. Wowo so glad you pointed that out. as for the
pages, i found out a wat to get them uploaded, but its gona take me some
time...oh well. ty ^_^

I am wondering what is the root folder? index.htm or images. My website does
not show up!!!

Neither.
The root folder is the folder that should hold your Home page. The
images folder is usually *in* the root folder.
The Home page is named as required by your host, usually (but not
always) one or more of the following is correct:
index.htm, index.html, default.htm
and (not so usual) home.html, welcome.html

There are other name/extension combinations that could be used as
well - if in doubt check with your host.

you must have figured it out, it's there now. Nice job on the mouse over
effect on the photos.

I am having a problem with publishing my site as well. You mentioned the
root folder and the others should be in the root. My site, using FP 03, is
not set as a folder, instead it has a blue e next to it as does the other
pages that should be linked to the root page. All of the elements in this
web are in a folder I named HOG site. How do I change these pages around and
make the root page a folder?

There is no such thing as a root page - it is a home page or default
page. A FrontPage web site is a folder with a blue globe on it.
Rename HOG site to HOGsite (spaces will break links)
Open FrontPage
File->Open Web (or Open Site)
Set the Look in to My Computer
Browse to folder named HOGsite
Click Open

FrontPage may ask to convert the folder to a web - agree
HOGsite will be the root folder, all files and folders associated with
the web will be in HOGsite

Note that if HOGsite is inside an existing FrontPage web, that web
will be opened. In this case, in FrontPage with the web opened, right
click on the folder HOGsite and choose "Convert to Web". The folder
will be converted to a web site, and can be opened by double clicking
it.
