page numbers

I am trying to create document and want page numbers to automatically
populate pages after page one. I don't want to put them, in myself. how?

For Word 2007, see the sections "Create a header or footer that contains
only the page number," "Start numbering on the second page with 2," and
"Start numbering on the second page with 1" in
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HP012265131033.aspx.

Write back if you are using a different version of Word and this information
doesn't help you.
