Page Numbers

I have a presentation where the title slide is numbered as slide 2, and what
is actually slide 2 is numbered as slide 3 etc. How do I make the title slide
appear as slide 1.

Try this, File - Page-setup - see what number is under "Number slides
starting with", should be 1 in your case.
In PPT 2007 you can find it under Design tab, Page Setup group, Page Setup.
