How can I put page numbers on slide master and change fonts to make them
readable on all slides? "Help" process does not work, and never has. Many
people gripe about how hard this seems to be.

To put slide numbers on all slides > view > header & footer tick slide
numbers (if you want also dont show on title slide). To change the font on
the slide master select the hash symbol in the slide number area and choose a
font / size

Did that answer the question / help?

Just select the # at the bottom right of the master and change whatever you
want (size, colors, gold, italic)

Go to View|Master|Slide Master, select the box where the page number shows
up (it's labeled "number area"), and format to your heart's content. Do the
same on the title master if you plan to have numbers show on it, too.

What topic did you search on in Help? I'm curious because if you can give us
specifics, we can maybe get the appropriate keywords added so the topic
shows up when it should.

John Wilson,
Thanks for your prompt response. Unfortunately neither or your suggestions
worked. I'm on PowerPoint 2003. What did work for page numbers is Sonia
Coleman's tip of 1/21/2005 -- View>master>slide master> format>master layout>
check slide number. Fortunately the slide font and size are acceptable, tho
many I see are too small. Still can't determine how to modify the font.

Also unfortunate is that clicking your name on the email doesn't work
either, so trying this reply button.

Once you have check marked all the required objects in the Format Master
Layout. Close that window. then like John and Echo said click on the place
holder and format whatever you want. Making sure that when your finished and
if you want to use these changes in future presentations that you close the
Slide Master and save it as a template file .POT. PowerPoint will point you
to where it would like you to save it.
