Word page numbers in word

hi i am going mad, i inserted page numbers, but they work okay but in one chapter they start from page 41 then 42 then 43 but then the next 2 pages come up 42 and 43 again then it goes to page 45 and works fine from pages 45 till end of chapter. Why is it repeating 2 page numbers again and missing out page number 44

i would begratefull if any one can help before i pull all my hair ouy

it ok i fixed the problem one of the kids must have called up headers and footers and clicked on link to previouse button in both header as well as a footer.
