Page numbers at the top or bottom of each COLUMN

I have a 2-column report that is currently printing a uniform header at the
top of each column, through the use of a "fake" grouping variable (thanks to
the group for that piece of advice). Now I'm trying to number each column as
a page - so on the first physical page of the report the first column will
have a spot where it says "page 1" and the second column will be labelled
"page 2". I've tried putting a [Page] label in the group footer but it keeps
numbering each column with the current physical page (so both columns on
page 1 are labelled as page 1). Any ideas of the settings I must use on the
group footer (in the group properties as well as the group section
properties) to make this work correctly? Thanks.

Check my reply where you tacked this question onto an older
