Page numbering

I created a presentation which has a cover page, a title
page and then the agenda page. In my page setup, my page #
starts at 0. I am trying to get the agenda page start at 1
(currently it's 2). I am using PowerPoint 2000. Any
suggestions?

Several Alternatives to get this ...

1) Manually number pages using added text boxes
2) Combine the Cover and Title pages into one slide -- Picture of what looks
like Title page fades in over Cover Page
3) Make your Cover page into a single slide presentation and link it to the
current presentation.

Since PowerPoint was primarily designed as a slide presentation software, it
uses the slide numbers to establish sequence within the presentation. It
was not originally intended to be used for printout documentation. If you
think it should be able to do this function also (to quote the famous John
Langhans) ...

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submission includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

[TOP ISSUE - Are you having difficulty opening presentations in PowerPoint
that you just created (you can save, but not open)? -

Hello,

This cannot be done within the constraints of PowerPoint's own slide
numbering feature (for a single presentation file). Slide numbering always
begins with the first slide of the presentation file and can begin with any
non-negative integer (0, 1, 2, etc.). Because the smallest page number the
1st slide can have is 0 (zero), this means that the smallest page number
for the 3rd slide in a presentation is 2.

There are vaiious tricks (custom shows, multiple presentations, manual page
numbering, etc.) which can be used to work around this limitation, but if
you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions for how to make
this easier to do in PowerPoint, don't forget to send your feedback (in
YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:
