Page numbering question in Windows XP word program

I am writing a manual and having difficulty getting the page numbering the
way I want. One of the chapters has five sections, A through E. I can have
the header put the sequential page numbers in, however I want to add the
section letters A through E preceeding the numbers. I've tried using section
breaks at the end of each section, and that seems to work, but for a couple
of sections only. Anyone out there with suggestions, or is this not possible.

Word is not part of WinXP. Ask in a Word or Office newsgroup.
