Can anyone tell me the recommended page file size for a
Windows 2000 Server w/ 1 GB RAM?
If so, what should the initial size be and what should
the maximum size be? Thank you in advance...

You can set your paging file up to 3 times the RAM
size. Set both initial and max to the same size to
prevent fragmenting of the page file in the event of a
kernel dump.
Here is some reading that explains it better!

Joe, there are many rules of thumb for pagefiles in Windows 2000.
Mostly, it depends on what you will be doing with the machine.

However, that having been said, as a good starting point, if I were you,
I would set the min and max to 1036MB.

The MS recommendation is to set the minimum to RAM x 1.5 and the max to
RAM x 2, but that is almost always excessive in a machine w/ >=512MB
RAM. The minimum should be RAM+12MB as long as the maximum pagefile on
each volume is <=4096MB. However, there is a way to exceed that limit,
but is rarely necessary.

If you have more than 1 hard drive volume, placement and size can get
more involved. Post back with your particulars if that's the case.
