Help,

Recently was running several apps at once and got the page
file is too small error. Win2K increased the size on it's
own (which took about 3 hours). Now all programs run slow
as hell.

It's not my computer (Athlon 2600+ with 256Meg 400Mhz
DDR). What is the BEST settings for the page file size so
that my computer will run normally again? How is the
proper size determined?

Thanks for the help.

If you have plenty of disk space, set the page file to one
and a half times (or more) the size of your ram.

You should put your page file on the fastest drive on your
system, and preferably on a different physical drive (so
that accessing the page file is via different read/write
heads). To do this, right click my
computer/properties/advanced/performance options/change.
then select the drive you want to create the page file and
enter the size you want into the initial size box.
Personally, I put double this value into the maximum size
box. Note that you can create the page file(s) in
different drives, but I don't think that it is necessary.

Hope this info is useful.
