Hi,

I want to move our page file off the c: (500mb free space) drive and onto
the f: drive (50gb free space). I've set the f: drive to initial & maximun
of memory x2, however when I try to set the page file on C: to 0, I get a
warning saying:

"If the pagefile on volume c: has an initial size of less than 1023 mb, then
the system may not be able to create a debugging information file if a stop
error occures. Continue anyway?"

Is it ok to continue as I have set the pagefile to reside on the f: drive?
Or does 2000 server require a pagefile to be located on the c: drive?

Ben,

Windows 2000 server does not require the pagefile to reside on de
system partition. Most people configure their server to have a
seperate partition just for the pagefile.
We have 6 Windows 2000 servers running, each with a seperate partition
of 2.5 Gb dedicated to the pagefile. However, it is correct that
Windows 2000 will issue a warning if you plan on decreasing the main
pagefile. If you're sure that you've created another pagefile, you can
safely set the main pagefile to 0. It worked like a charm when we did
it over here.

Ensure that the pagefile is only moved onto a separate disk (ideally on a
separate channel for real performance gains); moving it to a different
partition/ volume on the same physical disk is a big no-no!!

And perhaps Win2k general would have been a better choice than AD... ;-)
