Hi

I'm trying to download a print driver from the Epson web site but when I
click downloads I get 'Page Cannot Be Displayed'. Epson tells me the page is
working fine so the problem is with my security settings or firewall. I tried
adding the web site to my trusted sites but it is still not working.

I have Windows XP, Norton Internet Security 2005, Spybot S&D, Windows
Defender & Spyware Doctor. Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks

I'm pretty desperate for some help here. But I've got some more information.

I have no trouble accessing the epson-europe web site. It is only when I try
to download an exe file (driver file 6792) that i get the error message.
Epson says there is no problem with the download link. Symantec has talked me
through various troubleshooting steps and I still cannot download the file.
When I disable Internet Security the file will still not download. Could it
be that my browser setting are preventing this? I've tried changing them but
nothing is working...

Have you got any pop up guards installed, such as the one in the Google
toolbar? Many download links are pop ups and wont display if you have
anything installed to prevent pop ups.

Hi

I'm having the same problem with certain ".exe" links using IE 6 and XP SP2.
I do have pop-uo guards but even when I hold down Ctrl key to override them,
'Page Cannot Be Displayed' error comes up. I've tried everything too to
correct the problem (well not EVERYTHING because I wouldn't still have the
problem). I would appreciate help on this also.

I have the exact same problem since last week. ANY .exe from any location
will not download from I.E. with the same error message whether it is a
direct link to the file or redirection, ruling out pop-up blockers. Any other
extension will work fine. Right now i am looking into "Spybot" to see if it
might be blocking. I'll post later to inform on results.

Config here : XP Pro SP2, I.E. 6 SP1, all patched weekly and up to date as
of yesterday.

Ok, same problem with or without Spybot. no problem with firefox. What
changed in the lates I.E. patches (last couple of weeks) that might have
caused that? There have been no environment changes on our side (Domain/user
policies haven't changed). looks like I.E. decided to do its own blocking. I
tried to disable extension management too but with no success.

It feels like I am talking in the emptyness, but here is the latest if
anybody has any idea.

1- Direct downloads do work (http, ftp).
2- redirection through PHP code works.
2- Redirection through asp code ---> No work (very usefull when you try to
dl from MS site). (works in firefox though).
