Recently the "page cannot be displayed" message has started to appear
intmittently. I can click on a link and get the message and click on the link
again and the page will be displayed fine. It is getting to be annoying
having to click repetedly to display web pages. I have not installed any new
software recently. I am running Win XP Home fully updated sp2. I am on
broadbanc connection thru Charter, home network. This setup has not changed
for many months so I do not understand why all of the sudden I am having this
problem.

Any help appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem. No solution at this point but I will
continue to watch this group for possible fix.

same problem here, images appear while others on same page dont, getting red
x's or "the page cannot be displayed" messages where images should be, this
has been going on for several days now and seems to be getting worse as I
have to refresh some webpages more often to get some images to appear if they
appear at all. I have used system restore twice, was a temporary fix then
problem came back, ran all kinds of scans, including 2 spyware and 1
antivirus in safe mode, all scans come up clean. disabled firewall, spyware
program, pop up blocker, antivirus, and cleaned out java temp files all with
no results even with internet options security and privacy settings at
minimum. Will repost if I find a "fix" .

I just used a free online virus scanner and it detected 2 files that were
infected with a trojan virus. While I dont know if this is the cause of my
problem, I will post the link to the free scanner so that anyone reading this
can use it if they are having similar problems. It is the only virus scanner
I have used in the past week either downloaded or free, that has actually
found something so just maybe once I find out how to remove the infected
files I am hoping this will fix the "images not appearing - the page cannot
be displayed" problem. Here is the link to the free virus scanner, just click
on the Kaspersky Online Scanner button and have it scan "My Computer" I am on
dial up and it took almost an hour to complete the scan. It will not remove
anything if detected but you can create a text file to save on your pc and
post it on this forum for help in removing it or any other malware that is
found http://forums.spywareinfo.com . You will have to register to be able to
post your text file.

When I find out how to remove the infected files. I will post back with
removal instructions if others have the same Trojan Virus detected. Currently
I have been unable to locate a removal tool for it. The name of the virus is
Trojan-Clicker.Win32.VB.dn this is the name that appears in the log but it
could actually be named .Win32.VB.dn.

This seems to be becoming more common. Search this forum for my thread
"Having to refresh every web page" - similar symptoms that I managed to
cure with a combination of anti-malware products.

The thing is, today I am not experiencing the problem at all. It doesn't
happen all of the time. I just did a comprehensive virus scan and came up
clean.

Wish I could say the same, I did notice more and more posts appearing with
the same general problem but I have been unable to resolve mine at all. I
have run all kinds of anti spyware and antivirus scans from free online scans
to downloaded programs and aside from the 1 scan catching that 1 trojan, no
malware can be found that would be the cause so it appears it may be caused
by some program on my system but which one I havent a clue since none of my
installed programs have the option to block images/ banners/ ads. I even
uninstalled my antivirus and microsoft antispyware programs and installed a
whole new security suite in the hopes that the other programs may have been
conflicting with each other and that was the cause but it didnt help at all
as the problem still exists.

Hi all, I was having same probs, spoke my isp support. Suggested this: open
ie > tools > internet options > connections > Lan settings > uncheck proxy
server box.
Worked for me.
