I'm running XP Home with SP2 and iExplorer v.6, and I'm trying to open
a link to a site, but I keep getting that "Page Cannot Be Displayed"
error message. It only happens on this one site for me, but other users
say that they can access it fine.

I've researched on google, and tried disabling my popups (both explorer
and Yahoo! ones), and cutting and pasting the address into a new
browser window.

How can I access this site?

Nice thought. Just tried it, but it wouldn't accept it because it
doesn't have an <https:> prefix.
It has an <http:> and isn't a <www.> site.

Duh. I just disabled the requirement for it to be an <https:> site, but
that didn't fix it. It still won't go through as a trusted site.

Check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc for a file named HOSTS with no
extension. (Not Hosts.sam)
Make sure Windows is set to show hidden files and folders and is NOT set to
hide extensions for known file types.
If HOSTS exists, rename it to HOSTS.OLD
Reboot an try again.

Or, In a Cmd window, enter
ipconfig /flushdns
then clear your TIF also, and re-boot.

Nope. I found and renamed <hosts> to <host.old>, and went into
ipconfig/flushdns. I cleared the temp internet folder (is that what TIF
is?) and rebooted. I still get two green bars, a pause, then the "Page
cannot be displayed" error.

I pinged the site. Its not a straightforward address...its a link a
realtor made for me to check on property listings in Maine. I don't
want to post it here, in case she put a bunch of personal stuff on it
for me, but its of this form:

<http://mreis.mlxchange.com/Pub/EmailView.asp?r=numbers&s=MRE&t=MRE>

I deleted the numbers where the address says 'numbers'.

When I ping just the <http://mreis.mlxchange.com> I get: "ping request
could not find host: please try again."

When I ping the full address, I get the same message with the entire
address in it. The realtor assures me that this is a correct address,
as she has plenty of clients who can access it in this form.

It's not
ipconfig/flushdns

LOL, I can SEE that. But when I put in the commands, the response is
the same. Are the commands inherently different?

More to the point, though, is that it didn't do anything to help me
access that website. Any more thoughts on the problem?
