At least thats what I think they are called.
Have Word 2000, all of a sudden when I type a document I can't tell where
one page ends and another begins. Is there a setting where I can fix this ?

You have probably changed from working in Page Layout View to Normal View or
you are in Page Layout View and have toggled the Hide White Space Option. If
it is the latter, hover the mouse pointer over the space where the page gap
should appear and the pointer will turn into a double vertical arrow and the
tooltip should say 'Show White Space'. Click and the White Space (and
Headers and Footers) should return.

If it is the former, use the View Menu to select Page Layout View.

Word has several "views" that show documents in different ways. It
sounds like you may be in Web Layout view (or maybe Outline view, but
I think you'd notice that). On the View menu, click either Normal or
Print Layout.

Am in normal view.

Ah... Look in Tools > Options > General at the first option,
"Background repagination". If it's clear, check it.
