Hello,

I'm using Word 2003. All of a sudden now, when I type and my text moves
onto the next page, Word does not insert a soft/automatic page break. At
least, it doesn't seem to. My text is obviously still registering, because
when I insert a hard/manual page break after my last word on the first page,
any subsequent typing on the second page then shows up. It's the same when I
go from the second to the third page, and so on. If I insert hard breaks,
save it, and open it, it's fine and it's all there. However, if I send the
document to someone, only the first page comes up unless that person, too,
inserts a hard page break. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Does this occur in only one particular document? If yes, then open the
document, and click on Format | Columns | One | Apply to: Whole document
| OK. Even if "One" already appears to be selected, click on it anyway.

Or does this occur in all new documents? If yes, then locate and open
your Normal.dot file as described in Method 1 in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm . Click on
Format | Columns | One | Apply to: Whole document | OK. Even if "One"
already appears to be selected, click on it anyway. Type a character or
two and delete what you just typed. Save the Normal.dot file and close it.

Thanks for this tip. I do have Windows XP, and I tried everything listed in
Method 1, but it's not turning up any files that are normal.dot or even
normal. Any further suggestions?

p.s. It does happen in every new document. However, if I open and edit a
document that was created before this problem, the document is fine and I can
proceed as normal.

Scratch that...even though I clicked "show hidden files and folders," when I
tried searching again I realized it wasn't searching in those folders. So, I
found it, did what you suggested, and it WORKED! Thank you!!
