I can't unpack a presentation from another computer. When I double-click the PNGSETUP.EXE file, It asks me where to unpack and then I get an error message saying it can't read PRESO.PPZ or I don't have permission to access it. I looked at the properties and it isn't read-only!!! Please help!!

Where is the PRESO.PPZ file located? If it's on a network drive, CD or
floppy, try copying it to your hard drive and then unpack it.

Actually I tried that first. The associate that burned the CD for me did however, rename the PPZ file to another customized name. I wonder if that has something to do with it. After I copied it to my hard drive and it didn't work I renamed the PPZ file back to PRESO.PPZ but it still didn't work.

Yeah, that probably has something to do with it.

I can't remember if the PPZ file is Pres0 (zero) or PresO (letter oh)
dot PPZ. You might try both of those.

If that doesn't work, try making a blank presentation of your own and
doing a Pack and Go on it. Use that PPZ file instead of the one your
associate renamed. Worth a shot, anyway.

Echo, thank you! You're brilliant! That's exactly what it was. I just renamed it again using a 0 (zero) instead of an O (letter) and it worked just fine! Don't think I would have ever thought of that

Thanks again!

Thanks for letting us know that worked.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

If you run PNGSETUP.exe directly it will always look only for prez0.ppz in
the same folder.

However, if the prez0.ppz has been renamed, you can simply force
PNGSETUP.exe to open it up by doing the following:

1) Open Windows Explorer and navigate to folder containing the renamed file
(it can be any name and not even a *.ppz extension)
2) Drag the icon for the renamed file and Drop it onto the icon for
PNGSETUP.exe
