Now that the 2003 viewer has finally arrived, does anyone
know if MS will be releasing a proper "Pack and Go" for
Powerpoint XP that will autoexecute, the way that it used
to, in previous versions (i.e., it would include the
viewer and fonts).

I'd appreciate your thoughts.

It will not be changed. When you buy a car and two years later a new model
is released with a better engine, the manufacturer doesn't call you and ask
you to bring the car in so that they can give you a free new engine.
Software developers work the same way. You'll have to buy the "new car."
<G> PowerPoint 2003 has a far superior feature called Package for CD that
replaces Pack and Go. See

Diana,

There are no new animations in 2003. There is also no new feature for layers
in 2003. Many of the changes in 2003 are what I call "subtle" <g>.

BUT!!!

There is a layer manager in the starter set (after you upgrade) from
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptools/FAQ00046.htm. I know this because I asked
for it and Steve put it in. I use it all the time now.

Looks interesting Glen. Thanks for the info and the lead.
I was really hoping that MS would add some controllability to the features
they had added to the XP version ... but, from your comment ... I guess not!
