Hi
Anybody has already tried to update his p5p800 motherboard sound chipset to soudblaster live ?

How good is the resulting sound comparde to genuine ac97 ?
Is it a paying online/ getting an activation code process ?

For those who don't know the thing, it's a paying option that allows to upgrade P5P800 Ac97 to Soundblaster Live.

Thanks for your answers

The URL listed in the 5150 installer points here:

http://www.soundblaster.com/MBupgrade/

Just based on the description, I don't think I'd bother :-)
And I say that, without seeing the price tag.

I think more people would pay, if they could get their
SPDIF to work right.

Get the demo and try it. It's just a software bundle that has enhancements like simulating surround sound etc.
Not worth it IMHO

I bought the upgrade but found it wasn't very good compared to my SB
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum teamed up with an Logitech X-530 5.1 Speaker.
Now I have home theatre experience on my PC!

IMHO save the time and money and get a Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. I was
lucky and got an rebate ($30.00) plus it was on sale (final cost was
$70.00) from zipzoomfly.com
