Hi - Has anybody setup the IRDA function on the P55T2P4.
My main question is: Do you need to have the Com2 function active to use
the IRDA function?
Or, do you only need to set the IRDA Bios function to active?
I hope someone can help here.
Thanx.
The manual mentions a setting called "UART2 Use Infrared". The
second UART in the multi i/o chip either drives the IRDA header
(serially) or it drives the serial port. Usually, this technique
limits IRDA transfer to somewhere around 100Kbits/sec, which is
not the same as the 4Mbit/sec that a lot of printers and
laptop computers are capable of.
I don't know what software modules need to be installed for
this to work - whether there is support automatically in the
OS or not.
There is some tutorial info here that might help.

This KB article talks about a "virtual com" port, so maybe that is
what you're supposed to see in the OS ?

Sometimes, you can view infrared devices with a video camera,
and that may allow you to observe whether your device is powered
up or not.
