I need help with an older system running a P4T533-C motherboard. This
system has been running fine for about 3 years

It has
PC Power and Cooling 425watt PS
Intel 2.53Mhz 533FSB processor
768 megs of Kingston ram (128x2 and 256x2)
Western Digital Harddisk
NEC DVD burner and Lite-On cd burner
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro video card

I used the system yesterday morning and everything was fine, came home
and couldn't get it to boot. When I hit the power switch everything
starts. I hear the hard disk, cd drives all start up but I don't see the
BIOS screen and I don't hear the system testing the floppy drive. The
green light on the motherboard is on as it normally is.

I took the video card out and it still doesn't boot. I then removed the
memory and CPU, the system boots and keeps saying "No CPU installed, No
CPU installed". I tested the CPU on another machine and it works fine. I
put the CPU back in and try to boot the machine (without the memory) and
it does nothing, no beeps or nothing. I read somewhere that you won't
get any beep codes without memory so I installed the 2 128 meg sticks
along with the CRIMMs and that didn't work, so I then tried the 2 256
meg sticks with the CRIMMS and again it didn't work. I also tried
unplugging the hard disk and cd drives from the power supply (in case
the power supply is going bad) and that didn't help either.

Anyone have any ideas about this. I am planning on removing the power
supply when I get home and trying it in my wife's machine. I am
suspecting the mainboard is bad.

You might try another (known working) CPU in it, but I'd wager your
guess about the board being bad is correct.

Well, I tried the power supply in another machine and that worked good
(even though its now about 5 years old). The motherboard is just out of
warranty, less than 3 years 1 month... guess I can't complain.

Anyhow, I went and got a P4P800-E. I was pretty surprised that my three
year old Pentium 4 2.53 works in this thing. Only Sad part (being pro
windows) Linux booted without a problem on the new motherboard, windows
xp on the other hand just immediately reboots :).

Thanks for all the help
