I
Irish Rover
Up until a short while ago I was using a USB2 7 port hub on a Windows
XP setup. Almost overnight - and I can't remember the circumstances -
the USB2 stopped working. I replaced the hub with two new ones - one
after the other - but to no avail. I then plugged in a USB1 hub which
worked perfectly but everytime I connected my scanner or my external
HD's a message popped up telling me they would work faster on a
different hub. If I replacede the hub I then got a message telling me
that the hub was faulty!
I removed all references to USB in Device Manager, rebooted and let
Windows find them again but nothing changed. I tried removing all
references to USB drivers and reinstalled the driver from the original
disk but I am no farther forward.
Is this a fault on the mainboard or is it a software fault? Any help
would be much appreciated before I throw it away and buy a new board
but which one?!!
