P4S8X-X boot problems

I'm a first-time home builder and have screwed up several times
already. First, I put the P4 3.06 processor in wrong and bent some
pins. I think they're straightened out now, but am not sure. Does
anyone know if Intel will replace the CPU in this case?

Second, after re-installation of the CPU, I still can't boot up. I
get a continuous series of beeps - one high, then low. The newsgrops
and boards say this mean the memory isn't being detected, the CPU fan
is incorrectly connected or the CMOS needs to be cleared. I am using
Crucial 512mb PC2700 memory and a Spectek 512 mb stick I picked up
from BestBuy. Both together or separately get this error. Any ideas?
Is it possible that the CPU is still bad?

Thanks in advance.

Umm, is the 4 pin molex connected to the mobo?
connected to ATX12 on the mobo?

You need this, so it supplies juice for the CPU.

I would also, take both of the simms out. shut the
system down, then put 1 of the simms back in.

Restart.

Then if it boots, you know the simm is OK.

Then put the other simm in, see if it still boots.

If it doesnt it's faulty.

You'll have to replace it.
