Can one use through the use of an adapter, the SATA connectors for an
ATA IDE device on the P4PE motherboard? I want to connect more than 4
IDE devices and wanted to see if the SATA connectors can be used?

Yes, there are ATA to SATA adapters available. They're little
gizmos (containing a Silicon Image SATA bridge chip, etc.) that
you plug into the 40-pin socket on the rear of your hard drive,
CD-ROM drive or other ATA device. You then connect the narrow
red SATA cable plus power, and away you go. Works very well.

Kingwin has one called "Serial ATA Converter - SAC-01". See
www.kingwin.com for details. Retail price <> US20-25.00

So there is no problem with using both the SATA and ATA 100/66 channels
both at the same time?

Can the RAID connector also be used in non RAID mode such as for an
additional hard drive?
