Hello,

I upgraded my P4PE to the BIOS version 1006 .
Everything was OK, except that now the onboard sound controller has
disappeared from Windows XP peripherals, and I have no more sound.

Is this a known problem ? What can I do to resolve it ?

Thank you for your help.

Same happened to me. Go into bios and manually set the AGP/PCI bus one
step higher than the default and see if the sound comes back. Sounds
strange, but I found it by accident. Once the sound came back, I could set
it back to default and it continued working.

THANK YOU, ED!

I just assembled a whole new system with P4PE-X and could not get the sound
to work. I did the same thing you suggested and it worked for me, too. Only
thing is, I cannot drop mine back to the original setting (AUTO) or the
audio device disappears again.

I was at BIOS level 1005 (because it was needed for 800MHz FSB). After I
read this thread I switched to the 1006 beta 001 version but it behaves the
same as 1005 as far as the onboard sound is concerned..
