P4P800Deluxe, Matrox G450eTV, XP Pro: PC-VCR = "unrecoverable error "

I installed SP1,
the latest ASUS bios and drivers,
and the latest G450 eTV XP drivers.

I've removed/re-installed the matrox drivers 2x
and rebooted after shutdown.

My C drive is NTFS,
but I do have another partition on it,
formatted as Fat32.

I have two IDE drives - raid "0"
and no other cards or drives.

I'm using a 2.8Ghz P4,
and 2x 500MB of Crucial PC3200
without O'clocking.

I'm able to go thru the "quick connect"
on the PC-VCR installation,
and the picture & channel control works,
but there's no sound
(although my sound works otherwise).

When I open PC-VCR:
"An unrecoverable error has occurred.
The application will be terminated"
pops-up.

The board worked wonderfully
in another machine with Win 98.

Could the fat 32 partition
that XP allowed me to append to my NTFS "C" drive
be to blame?

However, No sound in "quick connect" is curious.
(I Don't remember if there IS audio in quick connect)

ANYONE with any insight? PLEASE HELP!
I'd hate to migrate to ATI
and I'm doing XP for the multi-tasking & NTFS file sizes.

TIA

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about your problem, but it affects ATI TV Wonders owners as
well. I found out the hard way when I upgraded to a P4 2.4c Hyperthreaded
CPU on my Asus P4P800-D. The TV Application hangs when I exit if I have HT
enabled. I am unfortunately currently running with HT disabled. I have
contacted ATI, and they have not heard of the problem - but its posted many
times in different forums.

Glad to hear that you might have a solution - let us know. I wish ATI would
do something about it.

Check here, there are 3 pages of frustration:

Good Luck.

Which AIW card are you using? I just put together a p4p800dx system
with a 2.4c and Radeon 9000 AIW and have had no problems at all, with
the processor clocked to 3.4 and HT enabled...

Likewise. I have a P4P800 (non-deluxe) running a non-overclocked 2.4c
and the 9000 AIW.....runs like a dream
