P4P800-X and maxtor sata hang at boot time

I have a motherboard P4P800-X(bios version 1006). and I would like to
install a HDD maxtor SATA 200Gb(diamondMax 10). At boot time, when the
maxtor is pluged, it is impossible to enter into the setup by pressing "del"
because the computer hang. To enter into the setup of the motherboard, I
need to unplug the maxtor and reboot. I have two P4P800-X and two HDD
maxtor. the problem is the same on the two computers.

how could I resolve my problem? by bying another HDD? by buying a sata PCI
card? by bying another model of motherboard?
