I just bought a new P4P800 that won't boot or even beep. It can't be
shorted out because the board is getting power as evidenced by the green
light and processor fan. I tried it in a different case with the same
result. The power supply in one of the cases is a brand new 400 watt, and
the other is a 300 watt rated for use with a P4. Here are my new
components:

Intel P4 2.6cGHz
Asus P4P800
512 MB DDR PC3200 memory -- a single stick

Any troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Greg

Did you remember to plug in the 12V (4 pin) power plug to the
motherboard? I forgot it once and the board wouldn't boot.

That is precisely what I forgot to do, and I feel like an idiot. It's
working beautifully now.

Thanks for your responses.
