I want to build a P4 based system. Stability is my number 1 priority. I have
read several favorable comments about the P4P800 motherboard. However, there
seems to be several versions of that board. Could anyone tell me how what
are the differences between these versions?

There's only the standard and deluxe version. When I went shopping for a PC
recently, they only had the deluxe version.

The deluxe version features a firewire port as well as an addition two VIA
IDE RAID connectors. I think that's the only difference. I don't use either
of these but I got the deluxe anyway, since it's gone down in price anyway.

I have seen the following versions of the P4P800:

Deluxe
DX
VM
800S

I have been unable to find out what differentiate them.

Oh, get the Deluxe.

The 800S defintitely don't get, it's a piece of shit (no dual channel mode).
The VM has some extra network fearture or some shit, and the DX is probably
the same as Deluxe.

This board won't overclock as there are no dip switches or Bios settings to
do it.
I have one and it has been rock solid with P4 2.4. If you don't want to o/c
get it but if you are
planning on o/c than get P4P800 Delux.
Good Luck.

I have built two P4P800 Deluxe w/P4 2.4C HT
I have never had any trouble with any ASUS MOBO. This was easily one of the
best so far.

I must concure about Asus. I only have one real Asus experience; the
machine I built earlier this year based on the P4PE motherboard. No
problems at all, even though it's the first PC I've built. I guess
generally these things do work heh!
