P4P800 VIA raid problem

Hello,

I just tryed to aktivate JOD with an 120GB og 40GB hardisk.

I only got around 120GB of space - the last 40GB was missing. What are I
doing wrong.

I allready downloaded and installed the newest driver version.

After this test I removed the JOD array on the VIA controler, but after
reboot I steil haven't got my "two" harddisk drives back.

What's wrong?

If "JOD" means RAID, you have to realize that to use RAID you must use two
harddrives of identical size!

Not with the JBOD raid. It stands for just a bunch of disks and allows one to
use say a 10 gig, a 60 gig , a 40 gig, and a 18 gig and put them all together
into one 128 gb array
 
if you are running one drive per cable, check to see if you need to remove
the jumpers off your drives so they are master/single. I flashed to the
newest bios at work and the raid disappeared, took the jumpers of my two WD
80GB SE drives and all was well. It also runs quite a bit faster now.

The drive are detected during boot-up and it is possible to go into the
"bios" configuration of the VIA controller and set up a new JBOD array.

Therefore I assume that the jumpers on the harddisk are placed correctly.

Any other suggestions?

Problem solved - I had to make new disk partitions.
