Hey folks,

Just assembled this board (non-deluxe version) with 2X 256MB Kingston
matched DDR400 in Dual channel format and a P4 2.4C in XP Pro SP1a with all
updates and patches. I have one 80GB Seagate SATA drive on IDE3. I get
random BSODs and can't seem to figure out what is going on. The BSODs are
inconsistent, i.e. sometimes it is obviously a RAM issue, others I'm not so
sure with ntfs.dll errors. I have all the default chipset and processor
settings and haven't messed with any of the acceleration/~PAT features of
the BIOS. I have also run memtest without any issue. Should I be increasing
the default RAM voltages as is the case with other boards? Right now it's
the default voltage.

Thanks for any advice,

Dave

Hi Dave!

I have a similar setup. I am using a P4 2.6C with 4 Kingston Valueram
KVR400X64C25/256 modules on an Asus P4P800 motherboard. I am also
using 2 Maxtor 120GB SATA hard drives. Anyway, my system is now
stable. I did find though that I did have to raise the voltage on the
DDR ram to 2.75V. Now everything is stable and I have no problems
with S3 suspend and resuming. I would try increasing the voltage on
the ram first.

By the way, how did you run memtest. I have tried everything but it
seems to lockup between test 4 and 5 when left ot its own devices. I
can manually choose tests with no problem and run them with no
problems. I've also run the system under maximum load for 8+ hour
streches without lockups when processing video. It just bugs me that
I cannot get memtest to complete a run by itself.

Good luck.

Great! Thanks for the tip. I tried bumping up the RAM to 2.65v, but I guess
that wasn't enough. I'll give 2.75v a shot to see if that does the trick.

As for memtest, I have never had any issues with it. A chance your download
and/or floppy creation has run amok? I guess memtest86 here:

You need to go to the Bios and disable the legacy USB.
I also disconnected my USB devices.
Then, memtest will run fine.

Hi Navid.

You were right. Once I disabled the USB ports, memtest worked like a
charm. Proved my memory stable at 2-2-3-5 by running memtest
overnight with no errors.

Thanks again.
