Hi, All ...

Just bought a new P4P800 motherboard w/new Intel 3.0 h/t. Installed all my
hardware from my previous P4B533 and pressed the power button ... and all I
hear is the fans start to run.

BUT ... on about the 20'th (or more) attempts at the power button, it
starts! All will fine and the computer runs merrily all day until I shut it
off (or go to Standby), and then the same start problem commences all over
again.

Does this sound like a defective mobo that should be returned to the seller?
Or a self inflicted problem ... I've checked (and re-checked) all the
jumpers and cables and they appear to be fine.

Anyone else run into this situation, or have any suggestions as to where to
look?

Yes ... On the occassions that the computer will start, I can access the
BIOS. Anything in particular I should look for?

TIA ... Fred

Might be a weak power supply.
Try disconnecting any cd drives, case fans etc from the power supply and see
if it boots ok.

Thanks for the reply, Ron ... good thought ... but I had already tried that,
disconnected everything I could think of ... and same problem.

It's a 380Watt ATX12V power supply so it should be adequate, and it's
powering the same hardware I had on the old mobo ... so I keep wondering if
it's a defective mobo. Just hate to send it back and have the same problem
with a new one.

How a bout the mounting studs for the motherboard - Is there any in the case
where there is no hole in the MB .

Fred

What brand of memory are you using?

Nope ... it all aligned fine.

At this point, I'm just throwing in the towel and RMA'ing the mobo back to
newegg.com ... wish me luck!

Good Luck Fred !
