P4P800 memory

I am about to buy a P4 3.0 CPU 800FSB
and an ASUS P4P800 mobo.
A friend told me that I have to buy 2 X 256 MB
PC3200 sticks rather thab 1 X 512.
Is that true?

For best performance and dual channel mode ,YES....
 
You only have to buy (2) MATCHED sticks of 256MB
RAM if you want to run dual channel memory. Otherwise you can just use one
512MB stick if you're running single channel memory.
