P4P800 fan control software?

The new ASUS P4P800 Deluxe manual shows some software screenshots in the
manual that includes a fan control item. However I don't see that where
it should be in PC Probe, the software package. Can anyone clue me it as
to where it might be found? I'd like to step the fans down from top
speed unless they are needed.

Also, I only have one fan connected to the mobo; the PSU has no fan
speed wire. If I later add another fan, should I run it off the same
cable (assuming that there is some sort of fan wire splitter).

The probe only let's you see the fan rpm; it will not let you make any
modifications.

You can use the BIOS and activate QFan. This will allow the fan RPM to drop
if the CPU is cool.

No.
You only connect one fan to each one of the connectors.
If you have a P4P800 deluxe, you have a total of 3 fan connectors on the
motherboard. One CPU, one PSU and one case.
You can hook up your new case fan to the case connector. Or, you can
directly connect it to the power supply.

Thanks. Clear on everything except that the manual definately shows a
fan control console. I guess they removed it?

Can you please specify on what page of the manual?

The manual number in the upper right hand corner is E1323

OK, I see that.
I'm sorry, I don't know anything about that capability!
I hope someone else will shed some light on this.

I have the same board.
After activating Q_Fan (on the Hardware Monitor page of the BIOS)
my fan was still running too hard.
I changed the CPU cooler. Now, I have a ZALMAN 7000A AlCu.
It is quiet. Well, I can only hear the hard drive now.

A few years ago earlier versions of PC Probe had a button on the fan monitor
page that when pressed was supposed to adjust the fan up and down in speed
as needed. The problem it had was the fan would continually speed up and
slow down, speed up and slow down............became more of a nuisance so
most deactivated it.

Q-Fan works superbly for me.

It works for me too.
One finds a system noisy. Another finds the same system quiet.
It is a matter of preference, and sensitivity to noise.
My CPU now idles at 28 degrees and under full load it is below 45,
and I cannot hear the fan. I am using Q-Fan also.
With the retail cooler, even at low RPM set by Q-Fan, I could still hear the fan.
I am sure many would not.

I have several fans in my system, I'm willing to put up with a quiet noise.
What I can't put up with was that high pitched whine the fan would make when
it was between 4500 and 5500 rpms. With Q-Fan on, it never gets up that
high. It's max is about 3500 rpms, but usually in the 2000s.
