Can anyone tell me if they are running or tried to run Windows 2003 on a
P4P800 MB. I want to know if all the devices are supported by the OS.
I currently have a P4PE and I was not able to successfully run Win2003
on it.

Thank you for your help

Yes, Windows 2003 Server.
It has been out for about a year and it seems that the drivers for asus
boards do not work on it. Although the OS architecture is similar to
Windows 2000 there are enough differences that not all hardware will
work. On One of my systems I had to change my NIC because there wasn't a
compatible driver.

oh well, I was hoping to get a p4p800

cheers

Ken,

Thanks for the feedback.
The problem is that it is an assumption. I am looking for some
confirmation. I am not sure if Soundmax has Win2003 drivers. I also do
not know about the raid, sata, and lan. The reason I am concerned is
that I was surprised to find that my p4pe is not supported. One of the
items is the soundmax audio. I also had a problem with supporting the
raid device, although that board used Promise technology and I believe
that the P4P800 uses Via raid support. There were also problems
installing the intel application excellerator.

I have sent asus a number of questions regarding compatability but they
hve not answered.

Thank again

sound is disabled by default in server 2003 (enable in admin services).

the winxp drivers work fine, even win2k in a pinch.

will need to use the intel inf from cd comes w/mainboard.

possible if you are use some fancy video card that will need
to boot in vga mode...install dx9.0, update vid drivers, and
also set video properties (desktop r/clik /advanced/troublseshoot/
setup hardware accelleration to full. /dx agp enable.

nobody will tell you those things from support/win as they
don't know, and any sysadmin will know how to setup anyway.
no big deal.

Thank you for the help.
I really like asus MBs but my work calls for me upgrading to W2003.

Win2003 server (and even upcoming beta OS's)
work fine on Asus p4p800's. You are working with intel
(i386) technology (board/chips) on win32 (i386) software.
Even AMD is i386 base technology. Just make effort to do
hardware driver updates (MS update) and configure "services".

some help if you are unable to determine drivers/oem sites:
http://www.aida32.hu/aida32.php
the hardware installed will be listed inc. links to driver sites.
