I'm using the onboard audio.
In the BIOS, "Instant Music" [Enabled] and then the "Instant Music
CDROM Drive" is pointed to the correct IDE port ?
CDROM 1x4 connector cabled to the motherboard 1x4 connector ?
Page 124 of the E1323 manual has a few notes about differences in
behavior after Instant Music is enabled:
"This feature is supported by the onboard audio AC¹97 CODEC, and
requires an optical drive (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or CD-RW).
1. Instant Music only supports CDs in audio format.
2. Instant Music would not work if you installed and enabled
an add-on sound card.
3. Instant Music only supports PS/2 keyboard.
Page 125 says that after Instant Music is enabled:
1. The Scroll Lock LED is fixed to ON after enabling Instant Music.
2. When set to Instant Music mode, the system wake-up
features (LAN, keyboard, mouse, USB) are deactivated. In
this case, power up the system using the power switch.
3. If the system lost connection or did not detect any optical
drive, the Instant Music feature turns OFF (disabled)
automatically. A ³beep² indicates this condition.
One thing they forgot to mention, is you have to set the KBPWR jumper
to +5VSB, so that the PS/2 keyboard is powered all the time. This
will allow the ESC key to wake the system, causing the BIOS to start
up in Instant Music mode, rather than starting the POST. If you don't
have a CD in the drive, it will shut down again. Use the power button
on the front of the computer case to cause a normal POST and boot
sequence.
As for the Voice POST, there is a setting in the BIOS for it. I don't
think there is a jumper present. The sound output should be mixed
with the AC97 output and go to the Lime Lineout connector. I don't know
if Asus bothers to connect the output to the PC speaker. The two jumpers
would have to be on the FPAUDIO header, to get the sound routed to
the rear speaker, if you happen to have an incompatible case audio
cable.
