Does anyone actually have a positive experience to share about this MB? I've
had it 2 days, nothing but headaches. No video is ther biggest problem. Kind
of important. hot restart, no video. goes to sleep(on it's own, no waking up
video. Let it rest for about a minute, maybe video. Immediately restart, no
video. This is the same enermax 465PSU, I have been using for a year, never
had a problem until the dreaded P4P800 DLX.

I have had the p4p800 deluxe for 3 months now. Works perfectly. My system
has never been so stable and fast. I am extremely happy. Never had a
better board.

If you are overclocking -- stop.

If you are having video issues, you might have an issue with your drivers
for your radeon card. Wipe the drivers and try a different version.

I assume you did a clean install of the OS when you got the board? If not,
you generally need to do that with a new board -- you can't just put in your
old hard disk.

Did you make sure to check the bios settings so that you aren't overclocking
via the bios. Did you enable hyperthreading and PAT? Do you have the
memory in dual channel mode (the right slots)?

What bios version are you running. Try the latest bios (set bios defaults
after installing latest bios). Then tweak bios from there.

Did you install the latest drivers for the board?

I think it is your video card and/or the drivers based on your video issues.

Yes. My home built P4P 800 Deluxe is rock solid stable. Not so much as
a hiccup in three months since the build. My board came with an old
BIOS version (1010, I think) and I had to flash the BIOS to fully
enable hyper-threading, but that was easily done, and as matter of
fact the system was stable, both before and after that.

You may have simply gotten a bad board. It happens occasionally in all
the best "families." Good luck.

Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Eric,
I hope it is not the board. I have owned and used P2b, then a P4B, now this
one.
No overclocking(I am not a gamer)
Clean install(xp pro)
Hyperthreading is on
is PAT enhanced?
Manual says use 2 blue slots first, is this not correct?
Bios is 1014, I will try 1016
Radeon has latest drivers, I will uninstall and reinstall them.
Thanks for your help. If you can add anything else, that would be great. I
do want this board to succeed.

Hello,
well it's real late now, I am beat. I uninstalled the 9200se and installed
my ever faithful Matrox g400, same exact problem, no video on restart? I am
going to bed. I give up for now

Had it for a few months and it's great. Fast, excellent onboard features and
rock solid.

Never had those problems you describe.

I have an nVidia card. I've heard there were problems with certain Raedons
and this board. Could be the factor.

Yes - I _had_ a bad P4P800_D - it just died suddenly...
Good luck.

....and I had luck - it was replaced by a new one: "Rev.2.0":-)

Does the P4P800 have the Bios option where you select which type of
video card will be the Primary card AGP/PCI like the P4C800's. Just a
thought, might be worth a look.
Cheers

Finally found it. I had a promise card in there. I took it out and the ATI
9200se and put in my Matrox G400, it's fine now, restarts and all (so far)
.. I tried putting the asus 9200se back in after that. Same crap started up
again! I got a win xp pro error message stating:
Microsoft Windows detected a possible device failure. The computer restarted
after an unexpected shutdown. The driver for the display device cound not
compltete a drawing operation. The display driver for the Raedon 9200se
seems to be responsible for the system instability.
This was with the latest drivers and the 2 previous drivers. The matrox is
running fine. I am going to return the 9200se if I can. BTW, it is an Asus
9200se.
