Just installed an Asus P4P800-d board with a 3g p-4 with two Hard
drives on IDE 1, and 1ea. HD on SATA 1 and 2. All these drives operate
normally.
My Nec 2500 dvd burner is installed as a master on IDE 1 and I for the
life of me cannot get it out of PIO mode, which gives me crappy
performance from it.
I installed the latest MB chipset drivers, deleted the Drive and
controller from device manager and let it re-detect, but it's still in
PIO mode. I even tried a different ribbon cable to the drive.
Any ideas how to get it to udma mode?
I use this computer as my Home Theater PC, and the stuttering I'm
getting while playing DVD's is not acceptable.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rick
